The Shield Mage is a miniboss for the Castle first revealed in the 1.0 roadmap.[1]
It will spawn shield pegs every other turn, and attack with a magic spell on its turn, dealing 4 damage.
It gains more ballwark every turn1, and when it reaches a high enough amount (~300) it removes all ballwark stacks and destroys all shield pegs to deal a large amount of damage.
1: Every turn gains n+6 ballwark, where n=number of turns, and resets after it unleashes all of them for the large attack
Tips[]
- If you have Ballpeen Hammer it is very easy to get the Ballwark in a china shop achievement

- Infernorbs can help during the fight since they will one-shot shield pegs
- Worbhammer is also useful
- If you have Round Guard you can try to time the boss' high damage attack with your reload to fully negate the damage. If you have Fiery Furnace you will also gain a bunch of bullwark from all of the shield pegs being destroyed.
