Activate is a keyword used by many aspects of the game.

When a Peg is Activated by an Orb, an amount is added to the damage that the Orb will deal when it fires. The amount will be equal to the Orb's current Damage value plus any modifiers (such as upgrades to the Peg's damage (eg. Swoltorb)), or Critical Damage. Most Pegs will Pop when they are Activated, though many effects in the game can change this.

Many effects in the game apply when a Peg is Activated - additionally, a number of Pegs, Relics, Orbs, and others can change how Activations work. For example, some Pegs will not add any damage to the total when activated. Bombs can be Activated, but it will not count as a Peg being Activated.

Notes[]

  • Not all effects in the game that apply on interacting with or interact with Pegs use the logic of Activate, as the mechanic was introduced in a patch. This leads to some Orbs that don't use Activate or Hit to act inconsistently.

Usage[]

The Activate keyword is part of most elements of the game, listed here are Orbs, Relics, and effects that explicitly use the highlighted keyword Activate.

Trivia[]

  • This effect exists partly in contrast to Hit, as whether Hit or Activate is used by an effect or mechanic in the game will dictate whether certain strategies and combinations of Orbs, Relics, Pegs, etc. will function.
    • For example, if a Relic has an effect that applies on a Peg's Activation, then Orbsium will apply its effect multiple times when it Hits a Peg, while if it has an effect that applies on-Hit, then it will only apply once.

Patch Notes[]

  • v0.7.34: Keyword color changed to be more legible. (old)
  • v0.7.27: Added to make some effects more understandable and consistent.
